York Energy Center Project

Specification:

EPTCON Ltd. provided EPC services for the 230 kV switchyard and interconnect to Hydro One for this 400MW Peaking Plant located in Newmarket, Ontario.

Scope of Work:

  • Complete electrical & civil engineering
  • Complete civil works (grading, excavating, foundations, backfill yard, fence)
  • Supply and installation of ground grid and cable trench systems
  • Supply and installation of structural steel, HV breakers, switches, buswork, lightning arresters, CVT’s & metering units
  • Supply of control building including fabrication, supply and installation of protection and control panels
  • Interface with Hydro One and plant to complete design and end to end testing
  • Complete testing and commissioning of the switchyard and interconnect to Hydro One

Greenfield Energy Center Project

Specification:

EPTCON Ltd. provided EPC services for an 8 breaker, 230 kV ring bus switchyard for this 1005MW Peaking Plant located in Sarnia Ontario.

Scope of Work:

  • Installation of eight, 230 kV SF6 circuit breakers Mitsubishi type SFMT-63
  • Supply and installation of eight 230 kV motor operated disconnect switches and sixteen 230 kV disconnect switches
  • Design, supply and installation of the 230 kV switchyard structural steel including nine A-Frame dead end towers
  • Design, supply and installation of the new switchyard grounding system
  • Design and construction of the new switchyard civil works including all foundation, cable trench system, site back fill and fencing
  • Testing and commissioning as a joint effort between the owner and EPTCON

Spy Hill Station Project

Specification:

EPTCON Ltd. provided EPC services for the 138kV switchyard for this 86MW gas-fired peaking facility located in Spy Hill, Saskatchewan.

Scope of Work:

  • Complete civil & electrical engineering of the switchyard
  • Supply and installation of complete ground grid and cable trench systems
  • Supply and installation of structural steel

    Supply and installation of HV equipment (switches, LAs, CVTs, metering units) and buswork

    Assembly and oil fill of 2 x 33/44/55 MVA transformers

    Fabrication, supply and installation of 5 protection and control panels

    Supply and installation of switchyard fence

    Interface with SaskPower to complete design and end to end testing

Thorold Cogeneration Center

Specification:

EPTCON Ltd. provided Civil & Electrical Engineering and Construction Services for the Q10P T-Line Monopole 3-4 and deadend Towers in Thorold, ON

Scope of Work:

  • Design single span transfer to a new dead end tower. Includes detailed foundation, steel fabrication design, BOM, Plan and Profile, and Sag/Tension Reports. Also included analysis of existing 3 pole dead end structure Q10P#15.
  • Civil works and grounding for new dead end tower.
  • Supply and installation of 1 new H Frame Dead End Tower 60ft in height complete with required 6 new station post and dead end insulators.
  • Supply and installation of 6 new anchor and guy assemblies onto existing Q10P #15.
  • During outage, completed testing of circuits and install temporary grounds onto the Q10P circuit after switched out and isolated.
  • Sag and dead end the transferred Q10P span and skywire at the new dead end.

East Windsor Cogeneration Project

Specification:

EPTCON Ltd. provided EPC services, including installation of 2 x 50/67/83 MVA transfomers, for a new 115 kV Transformer station located in Windsor Ontario.

Scope of Work:

  • Production of single and three line diagrams
  • DC schematics for relay protection schemes and transformer breaker controls
  • RTU communication integration with protection relays and IESO/HONI equipment
  • Line and transformer protection trip logic diagrams
  • Cable and termination schedules
  • Connection Wiring Diagrams (CWD)
  • Production of RTU point lists to communicate with HONI SCADA, IESO SCADA and plant DCS
