We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller for our Cambridge, Ontario location.

POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• General ledger account reconciliations in preparation of the monthly financial statements;
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations;
• Post entries to the general ledger based on ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises) and company’s capitalization policy;
• Monitor and control job cost entry posting of labour & equipment charges;
• Assist staff with major project set up of controls, tracking and invoicing formats as required;
• Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) reporting, remittance and compliance;
• T5018 subcontract payment annual reporting;
• Ensure conformity with internal accounting policies and business processes as well as compliance with established internal controls, including approval requirements with a keen eye toward cost control and accuracy;
• Maintain apprenticeship tax credit records for annual filing of corporate tax returns;
• Assist with collection of accounts receivable when required;
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts;
• Assist with preparing for annual audits;
• Assist with the implementation of new projects and initiatives within the finance department;
• Ad hoc analyses as required by divisions, the Controller, the CFO and the President e.g. break even analysis, scenario analysis etc.; and,

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate detailed and economical material and labor cost estimates for review by the Estimating Manager;

Education and Experience

We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician (Journey-Certified) to join our team in Cambridge, ON!

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in heavy civil construction required;
  • Journey-Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic/Interprovincial Red Seal Certification (310T /421A);
  • Utility, Cummins, CAT National Crane, experience preferred;

THE POSITION:

The Heavy Equipment Technician will be responsible for ensuring that all company heavy equipment (tracked heavy equipment, heavy trucks, dozers, excavators, backhoes, graders, loaders, etc.) are maintained in good working condition by inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and servicing the fleet in the field. Working from the manufacturers’ specifications, they will identify and repair problems in structural, mechanical, or hydraulic systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs daily safety and maintenance checks;
  • Interpret work orders and technical manuals;
  • Keep equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained;
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions;
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems;
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets manufacturers’ specifications and legislated regulations;
  • Input service reports;
  • Maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment may include:

EPTCON is recruiting for a Manufacturing Operations Coordinator to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario. Reporting to the Manufacturing Operations Manager, you will work closely with EPTCON’s team delivering high voltage electrical contracting services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with customer relations, operational strategizing and project planning;
  • Coordinate daily operations assisting with the commercial functions of planning, organizing, directing and improving the manufacturing process of our Protection & Control (P&C) panels, control buildings, and switchgear lineups;
  • Work closely with the project management team to drive performance and minimize risk;
  • Promote the company’s Environmental, Health and Safety policy;
  • Liaise and assist the Engineering, Project Management and Shop Foreperson teams;
  • Assist with projects in conjunction with the management team for Sales, Estimating, and Projects; including but not limited to client expectations, change notices, estimates, control, tracking issues and scheduling;
  • Monitor the Quality Assurance and Quality Control demands and ensure they are met based on the project’s needs.
  • Assist with job reporting and monthly job status reports for labor hours, productivity, cash flow, expected cost-at-completion, profit margin, and revenue;
  • Assist in the collection of outstanding payments, communication and documentation of all projects; and,
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual agreements including Federal, Provincial, and local laws, particularly applicable Occupational Health & Safety Acts/Construction Safety Act regulations and environmental requirements.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of a 3 year technology program;
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) certification preferred;
  • Experience with progressive electrical projects would be an asset;

EPTCON is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in St Catharines, Ontario. Applicant must be licensed to practice with the Professional Engineers of Ontario as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)

Requires knowledge and familiarity of all electrical aspects of generation, power transmission and distribution substations, wind and solar farms collection systems and their connection to the grid, underground distribution, utilization of electrical plant in industrial environments and communications and System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.  Must be familiar with power system analysis techniques including a good working knowledge of symmetrical components. Must be familiar with the detailed electrical design of underground and overhead utility facilities, and the requirements of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, the Canadian Electrical Code. Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills.

 

Defines the conceptual design of substations and overviews and directs the development and preparation of substation designs including layouts, elevations, single line diagrams, three line diagrams, DC and AC control schematics, connection wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and raceway layouts, including cable trays, duct banks, cable trenches and bill of materials.

 

Develops control and trip logic diagrams, relay protection settings and relay configuration files utilizing relay Vendors’ configuration software.

 

Undertakes or directs electrical power system studies including load flows, loss analysis, reactive compensation, short circuit, stability, and harmonics analysis; carries out power system protection coordination studies including production of inverse time curves, and arc flash hazard analysis studies using EasyPower software.

 

Measures or arranges for ground thermal resistivity and ground electrical resistivity measurements at the project site.

 

Performs or oversees the development of grounding system analysis and design using SES Engineering Multifields software.

 

Determines underground cable current carrying capability using Cyme’s CYMCAP software.

 

Develops and directs the production of protection and control communications network architecture diagrams for the integration of protection relays and equipment statuses into the System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems normally used in utility systems.

 

Must be familiar with electrical codes and standards, modern microprocessor controlled protection relays and their setting software, RTUs, modems, and their integration. Must also be familiar with the connection requirements of Hydro One, IESO and NPCC.

 

Develops protection, control and trip logic philosophies and design descriptions.

 

Performs engineering calculations to establish system criteria and major equipment design rating and parameters, such as transformer and cable size selection.

Develops fiber-optic system design and integrates it with the underground plan.          

Prepares technical specifications for major electrical equipment, protection relay and RTU panels, and auxiliary systems in accordance with Customer requirements and the late

Reviews Vendor proposals, specifications and drawings.

Participates in project Design Review Meetings, as required. Liaises and coordinates with the client to ascertain requirements and project progress. Attends client meetings and site visits.

Effectively and efficiently manages work time to ensure project completion to schedule and within budget.  Works to ensure that the Company and Clients’ confidentiality agreements are respected.

When required, visits the project site to review the installation work to ascertain that it has been carried out per the designs and to provide site technical guidance and assistance during construction, testing and commissioning.

Prepares the required documentation for the connection to the grid process such as testing and commissioning protocols, the Transmission Confirmation of Verification Evidence Report (COVER) and IESO Appendix 4 of Market Rules data submission forms requirements.

Participates in the development of engineering procedures and standards, and contributes to OLE’s paperless library.

Prepares proposals and/or assists with the preparation of engineering proposals.

Prepares reports.

Carries out all duties in accordance with established procedures and those identified in the Company Quality Assurance Manual. Ensures proper electronic filing and traceability of project information.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Generally, 15 plus years work experience. Completes assignments independently and without supervision. Requires knowledge of more than one field of engineering or a high degree of expertise in his chosen field of specialization. Participates in short and long range planning; makes independent decisions on work methods and procedures within an overall program. Demonstrates sound judgment, originality, ingenuity, and in-depth engineering knowledge of principles for devising practical and economical solutions to engineering problems.  Reviews and verifies accuracy and adequacy of the work of engineers under his supervision. Participates in the scheduling and organization of engineering projects. Mentors and trains other less experienced engineers, technologists and designers. Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Site Supervisor;
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the industrial sector;
  • Experience or Trade Certification in a Civil discipline;
  • Knowledge in the construction of substation facilities is a plus;
  • Demonstration of successful completion of construction projects;
  • A willingness to travel, often to remote areas where projects are located;
  • A safe work attitude;
  • Computer skills, including a working knowledge of scheduling (MS Project), MS Word and Excel software applications, etc.;
  • Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment in order to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent organization skills; and,
  • Strong leadership capabilities, teamwork skills, interpersonal and communication skills.

EPTCON is recruiting for a Substation Site Supervisor (Electrical) to join our various project locations throughout Ontario. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will work closely with EPTCON’s team delivering high voltage electrical contracting services. EPTCON will consider qualified candidates from across Canada for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the project, drawing up two (2) week plans, and adhering to project schedule;
  • Ensure that construction is cost effective;
  • Make sure installations are completed on time and are of good quality;
  • Determine the manpower and material resources needed while abiding by union rules;
